THE FANTASTICKSJUNE 3 - 8, 2008
THE FANTASTICKS led off Casa's 50th Anniversary season. I was delighted to have been a part of the golden anniversary celebration. I made my debut at Casa 40 years ago.
Here's a look at the famous set of the longest running musical in the world:
Here are the two fathers: Bellomy (yours truly) and Huckleby (Gary Taggart).
While in Fort Worth, The Ol' South Pancake House became the Cowtown "Sardi's"! Check out the Swedish pancakes, the corncakes and my German pancake!
Erica Piccininni (Luisa) visits with NYU school chum Merrill West.
As I said, this production started off Casa Manana's 50th season. Part of the celebration included Brad Jackson creating some historic displays in the old niches. They even added some "recent" show displays of productions in which I was involved.
"The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ Console" and 2 old costumes from "GREATER TUNA". This was when Joe Sears needed padding. HA!
A couple of costumes from "A FEW GOOD MEN" as well as a tribute to our long-time musical director, Joe Stecko.
A poster for the "red seat" campaign that retired Casa's original debt.
"MOON OVER BUFFALO"
Check out my toupee!
"A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM". Casa's first self-produced show at Bass Performance Hall.
"1776"
Also at Bass Hall!
"THE FANTASTICKS" was a great experience. It was a pleasure to learn the show from Tom Jones and Janet Watson. It was also fun to work with Lorenzo Lamas. (He said his mother, Arlene Dahl, appeared at Casa years ago!) A delightful, talented company added to the enjoyment!
Finally, my old friend Kim Moore called and asked if I would be interested in reprising Bellomy in New York? Unfortunately, I had a previous engagement (and I couldn't afford to live in NYC on the 199-seat wages). I do, however, feel like Lizzy Curry in "THE RAINMAKER" and "110 IN THE SHADE". I can't say I was never asked!
Thanks, folks!
